WASHINGTON, D.C.—New York debate programs had a strong showing at this year’s National Debate Coaches Association National Championships in Washington, D.C.
The Bronx High School of Science captured two of the three national titles at this year’s NDCA National Championships. Seniors Andrew Markoff and Zack Elias were the champions in Policy Debate; juniors Thomas Lloyd and Katie Wong were the champions in Public Forum Debate. They defeated teams from the Kinkaid School in Texas and the Harker School in California, respectively, to win their final rounds and claim their titles.
The Beacon School’s Damiyr Davis and Miguel Feliciano received awards in Policy Debate; Scarsdale High School’s Eric Thurm received awards in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Also competing at this prestigious championship were the Bronx High School of Science’s Max Weinreich, Edgemont High School’s Sam Gelb and Akshay Kimi, and Scarsdale High School’s Zach Edelman and Geoffrey Kristof.
